You know, I don't dispute that idea, but I just don't know if RE has any loyalties, except to himself and his brothers (who are creeps, too). He, should I say it...creeps me out.

Granted, a sinister aura seems to surround him.
I also think he is the poster boy for what we would have called Soldiers of Fortune or at the very least a (very) forward mercenary, who goes to where the wars are if not for the war, at least the adventure...much like our “Lafeyette Escadrille” or “Flying Tigers” before we opted in on the action...
