Forty-eight days before the release and shes already topped Dan Browns latest conspiracy-theory casserole at both top retailers. To put that in perspective, note that the book doesnt even have a cover yet. So much for the Page Six hit piece about demand for her being slack. No way to tell yet, obviously, whether the monster launch will have legs or whether itll deflate a bit next week after Palinistas are all done ordering their advance copies. But if it goes on to become a mega-seller, its a game-changer insofar as itll establish her unquestionably as the most prominent Republican in America, which leaves Huck and Mitt in an awkward spot before the primaries and presents the media with an interesting choice. Do they try to spin the sales as unrepresentative of her support among Republicans given that plenty of liberals are bound to buy the book for campaign dish and insight into the Palin trainwreck? Or do they follow lefty conventional wisdom that Palin would be the easiest person to beat in 2012 and talk up her appeal to Republicans to try to nudge her into a presidential run? (Righty conventional wisdom, of course, is that shes the candidate the left most fears, but given their expectation of future Couric-type disasters during a campaign, Im skeptical that thats true.) Only one things certain: If she hasnt already been signed to write a second book, she will be soon. Common Sense Conservatism by Sarah Palin, perchance?

Some people just do not realize that a lot of people who do not vote will come out and vote for her.
ROTFL!!! That's a hoot!
bookmark
I would vote for her in a heartbeat.
The #2 book is Glenn Beck
Any news yet on a book tour yet. I want my copy of this book to be signed.
See my tagline, folks...
Not so Amazing. Totally expected. Now for the grand book tour to a stadium near you.
I am in line right behind you to help!!!!
Deflate???
The fools. The pre release orders are over one million copies already.
Me too!! I hope she can come to Los Angeles. I want to meet her so badly
I’m hoping she’ll hit Phoenix. A lot of Arizonans will be very disappointed if she doesn’t.
Really doesn't mean much, ya know only 15% of democrats can even read.
Veyr true. Also what’s he doing calling her supporters Palinistas an d comparing to a bunch of communist thugs from Nicaragua. Very insulting, especially from a supposd conservative.
They key issue for 2012, the #1 issue above all else, that without which nothing else matters, is the following:
Barack Obama will raise well in excess of 1 Billion dollars for his reelection. Easily. If the GOP does not have a nominee who can raise at least 1 Billion or close to it, he will win again. You simply can’t contest a general election and be outspent by 500 million dollars and hope to have any chance at winning.
So, when considering 2012, you have to ask yourself, “can X raise 1 billion dollars? can x generate enough excitement and support and motivate enough people to give enough money?”
For comparison, McCain raised below 300 million. Bush, even with all his prodigious fundraising and record setting hauls raised around 350 million in 2004. Mitt Romney with all his connections and establishment support raised less than 60 million over the course of year. If you had up all three of them, Obama still outraised them by over 100 million.
Does anyone believe Mitt Romney will jump from 60 million in a year to 1 billion? Can anyone see Tim Pawlenty getting folks to give him 1 billion dollars? Mitch Daniels?
Now, I don’t know if I can see even Sarah doing that as it’s a very tall order, but she’s certainly demonstrated way more than any of those folks that she can get people excited, draw interest, generate enthusiasm.
25,000 to see her in some small town in NY for some made up parade? A record crowd on Long Island for an autism fundraiser? Runner’s World website having the most hits ever? 2 words that so unnerved the most powerful man in the world that he needed to call a natl tv address to Congress to rebut them? We’ll see what the book sales do but she could well be on track for records there, as well. And if it has good political substance and people like Rush, Beck, Hannity and Levin start plugging it and saying good things it will do extremely well.
She’s the only one I see out there with the potential to even come close.
But that is the issue. Can x raise a billion? All the rest is commentary for now.
Meanwhile, John McCain who endorsed cap and trader Mark Kirk and sent out his campaign mgr to the liberal Atlantic magazine to trash the woman who almost singlehandedly made him President, is out hosting fundraisers for Mitt Romney who is on record as proudly not being a Republican during the Reagan era and is nwe backing Meg Whitman for the job of most powerful GOP Governor in the country, a woman who endorsed and donated the max of $4000 to Barabara Boxer as recently as 2004. Great.
“Some people just do not realize that a lot of people who do not vote will come out and vote for her.”
Excellent point. I’ve had to drag myself to the polls. Palin is the first person who fired me up since Regan.
RE the money:
1. I think there will be some doors shut for the money laundering that went on during Zero’s campaign. [Especially if the Acorn/Tides/Soros loop is closed]
2. Regular folks will give. Repeatedly.
3. Businesses, battered from the reality of the negative impact from Zero’s administration will be likely to give to Sarah. After all, even if you get goodies from congress, if folks aren’t buying or working, what good will the perks of graft be if the currency is still in the tank? People simply don’t trust Zero with their money, their employment/business prospects, or their constitution.
Inside Allah there is, I suspect, a little Andrew Sullivan screaming to get out.
I think the Hot Air gang are the type of conservatives that are embarrased to be associated with Christians, and even worse, those crazy Creationists. (Of which I’m one.)
Me too, but can you imagine the line? They’d have to sell tickets to the book signing.
