Police investigate rape of 10-year-old
LINKöPING, Sweden, Oct. 2 (UPI) —
Authorities in central Sweden are investigating the rape of a 10-year-old girl by three boys a few years older, police say.
The assault occurred Tuesday in a wooded area near school Tuesday while the children were on lunch break, Sweden’s The Local reported Friday.
“I don’t know if the boys have confessed,” said Thomas Brandin of the Linkoping town council. “The police are investigating the matter now, but we consider this to be a very serious incident.”
Under Swedish law, the 12- to 13-year-old suspects are under the age of criminal responsibility.
Police have classified the case as rape.
