President Obama has been steadfast in his pledge that he won't raise taxes on those making less than $250,000. Unless you count the huge tax increase of $32.8 billion on tobacco products (62 cents on a pack of cigarettes) that he signed into law in February, only two weeks after he was coronated.
"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 per year, will see any form of tax increase.
Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."
- Candidate Barack Obama, Sept. 12, 2008, Dover, N.H.

- Candidate Barack Obama, Sept. 12, 2008, Dover, N.H. He said he CAN make a pledge. And he can. But he did not say he was making it.
