From the era of General LeMay to today, I have seen soviet/ruski equipment fail in combat, partially from technical reasons, but mainly due to training and over-reach. Thank God they didn't have a Kalashnikov designing air defense.
The only time they had close to parity, was when the bean counter was in charge of the Pentagon.
