ACORN suspend programs in San Jose and East Bay
San Jose Mercury News ^ | September 30, 2009 | Joe Rodriguez

San Jose's ACORN has closed its first-time homeowner program in the wake of the scandal that has also cost the national group its federal funding.

Allison Chadwick, a national spokeswoman for ACORN Housing, said all of its offices, including San Jose and the East Bay chapters, would suspend classes for first-time home buyers. However, foreclosure advice would continue.

ACORN, a nonprofit anti-poverty organization, is reeling from a sting operation by undercover conservative activists posing as a prostitute and her pimp.

The pair videotaped ACORN housing workers in Baltimore and other locations offering them advice about cheating on taxes and operating a brothel with underage, immigrant girls. ACORN fired the workers but the video became an Internet sensation and political scandal.

There is no evidence that San Jose or East Bay employees or volunteers have done anything illegal or nefarious.

"This is going to hurt a lot of people who we've helped in housing," Chadwick said, adding that the organization has helped 100,000 low-income people buy their first homes in the past year alone. She did not know how long classes would be suspended or if any employees would be laid off as a result.

A note posted at the San Jose housing office said the office was temporarily canceling appointments because the staff was in "training." Managers at the office, which is set deep in an industrial park on Taylor Street, declined to comment.

I’m from San Jose and i recall in the last few years i’ve had two or three visits at the front door from “youths” who were looking for handouts to “keep them off the streets” and other such ruses. They had no credentials to show me so i gave them nothing. But i wonder now if these could’ve been ACORN representatives.

And, a developing ACORN story in Oklahoma:

Apparently ACORN abandoned an office in Oklahoma and left documents behind, which are now being gone through. The supposedly non-partisan ACORN was very active in getting radicals elected and spoke repeatedly of their work on behalf of Obmama’s campaign.

Im glad they were stupid enough to leave important documents behind that can prove their illegal behavior.

Reynolds said, “The contents of the ACORN offices were offered to me late, last summer,” but he didn’t examine them in detail. “My other duties didn’t allow me to examine the tens of thousands of pages available until recently,” he said, adding that when he read national stories about video of ACORN appearing to advise illegal behavior, “I decided I’d more carefully examine it.”

thanks to breitbart, Hannah and James for the brilliant idea of exposing ACORN nationally

The ACORN office shredders are going full bore. No time for ‘classes’.

Anyone who wants to make a name for themselves can walk into an ACORN office and get the crooks on tape - FOX NEWS the next day if it's "good stuff">.. ACORN is a sitting duck for freelances - same with the rest of the criminal liberal organizations.
