Both of us worked more than one job at a time to raise our family and personally “fund” educational and recreational activities. We worked hard and still managed to spend time with our children often working opposite shifts.
Second hand bikes are cheap, and it doesn't require “funding” to teach your own child how to ride a bike. I remember the joy we felt when both children learned. We paid for our child's traveling team fees. We paid for our other child's club fees and out of town weekend workshops. There was no government “funding” for this family. We did hold a car wash for the state tournament. (There was no begging at the grocery store for this team.)
People have work for what they want, then they appreciate it.
If people care about the quality of life for their children they will consider the cost of raising said children, before creating them.
In Chicago, where I teach, the kids have children before leaving high school. they don't marry their “baby daddy,” or live with said “daddy,” because they get more “funding” when they live as single parents. They know how the system works and play it well. Look at ACORN. When government provides, quality subsides. Have you ever seen government issued school lunches? I wouldn't feed them to my dog.
Michelle obama knows how this city works (or doesn't).

Sorry to vent, I just become so frustrated when I see what goes on daily in Chicago, in these neighborhoods that want “funding.” It is a disgrace.

A real sacrifice would have been a visit to the parents of the slain student in Chicago.

Whenever elite liberals use the word sacrifice, we need to back to a wall and protect our wallets.
Sacrifice to elite liberals is spending our tax $’s doing fun things supposedly for the poor.
