Bush set up a lot of what is going on, I have NO respect for Bush what so ever.
Hey, thank you!
Yes. That sounds not simply stupid, but illegal and insane to boot.
Its not stupid if done correctly. The colonists at Concorde bridge weren't insane. Confiscation *is* illegal.
What exactly do you believe was the alternative? During Katrina and in Orleans Parish, would YOU have fought it out against the police?
Police do well against lone individuals, and against small groups, as in a siege situation. If they cops can surround them, then the cops prevail.
If they were pitted against a large and well organized group of homeowners they can't surround, they would crumple like cardboard.
Police go to extreme and sometimes absurd measures to avoid being shot. They require large odds in their favor to take down one armed suspect. A freeway chase involves a half dozen squad cars. A school siege ties up an entire small-town police department. A subdivision seige will tie up an entire metropolitan PD. Few cities have the resources to oppose a few hundred, well armed, well organized citizens. Especially if they can't be besieged.
Vidal is now to feeble to go join the Rump Rangers in the San Francisco bath houses.
In all honesty, the comments on the article are more interesting and enlightening than the ramblings of this old fool.
Let me just state for the record that when you present your preposterous (but conveniently slippery) schemes about a “well organized group of homeowners” fighting law enforcement officers for whatever idiotic reason, you are going deeply against the rule of law that this country stands for.
You are also being a complete lunatic and a nut.
You should be committed to a mental institution.
What's preposterous about it? Be specific.
His response to 911 is and was vitally important. He was strong when America need him to be strong. He set up Guantanamo out of the states; and prevented future attacks here in America.
No man is perfect. We are all flawed. He was a man of his time. Second term President Bush made many mistakes.
Give him credit for the fact the Democratic held Congress would not pass most all of his appointments (Judicially) and his desired legislations. I am disturbed by his ‘One World Government’ process.
However, the powers that be ... ALL seem to be ‘One World’ promoters/advocates. MO

It’s illegal.
It’s against the rule of law.
It’s deadly.
You’ll get killed.
You’ll ensure that others suffer the same fate.
You are so stuck in your swirling head full of whacknut ideas that you (willfully) cannot see that intended civilized and legal American public process was fulfilled within moments of the NOLA Chief Of Police issuing his illegal seizure orders.
As soon as it was known, legal processes were put into motion, and the order was quickly rescinded.
You, however, would either be expired (rightfully so for discharging a weapon at law enforcement officers) or be thrown into the hokey on charges of capital murder and many other felony infractions, hopefully to be remanded to a high-security prison for life.
Specific enough for you?
No problem- The more exposure the better.
What you wrote is on target.
Buckley to Vidal: “Now listen, you queer. Stop calling me a crypto-Nazi, or Ill sock you in the goddamn face and youll stay plastered.”
Thanks for mentioning that, I’d forgotten all about it.

Did you know that there was a lawsuit and a countersuit about a piece Gore Vidal wrote on this incident? I believe it was written for Esquire magazine.
At one time I read an interesting article that Buckley wrote after all the legal machinations had run their course. I will see if I can located and if I do, I will post the link.
You realize this is a 'dictatorship' thread, don't you?
>>> You realize this is a ‘dictatorship’ thread, don’t you? <<<
Do you realize I called Gore Vidal’s “dictatorship” thesis “senile” and “a false conclusion” in #29 above?
He’s as much a lunatic as you are.
