A GREAT essay. A long, but valuable read.

But there is a third factor: the political elites who mistakenly believe they are the actual owners of this country. That is why the idea of redistributing America’s wealth comes so easily to them. They view the real owners as an insignificant nuisance. Such an error in judgment may cost them dearly in the next election, despite their ties to the media and the fraudulent “community organizations.”

Political elites definitely believe that all income is theirs and they are being kind and generous to allow us to keep some of our earnings. This is a point that may be useful when talking to newly aware left-leaning friends.

That is a very good point.

A good question to ask a liberal friend: what do you prefer:

A. When everybody, equal under the law, are free to lawfully earn as much as they can, or
B. To strive for more equal distribution of income

In case of B: a follow up question: who should be the judge of what is too much, who should control the re-distribution, what force is acceptable to ensure the re-distribution?

One can’t say B without logically accepting controlling force from some faceless government bureaucrat-enforcer. This road was traveled before by others with results ranging from stagnation to tyranny.

Remember the House post office and banking check-kiting scandals of 1990's? It made Americans mad and led to the flip in congress. Just such an understandable issue may be the fact that congressmen can get full primary care (check-ups, examinations, tests, EKG's, X-rays, etc.) with no waiting right in their office complex for the sum of just $503 per YEAR. If they need a specialist, such a doctor will be brought in for them. That is sure not happening for the rest of us. Of course the Republicans like this too, so they'll probably never mention it.
