I don't believe that there's a more striking example or illustration of the divide between Hollywood and normal America, than the reaction of Polanski's arrest.

I consider myself an "open-minded" person, but societies must draw the line somewhere. You would think that everyone could agree that drugging, rape and sodomizing of a 13 year-old girl is well past any arguable line of societal acceptability. If you thought that, you were wrong.

For Hollywood, it seems as if it's acceptable behavior, given the perpetrator reaches some appropriate level of talent & success. Ain't Obama's America grand?

And... if they think he’s paid his dues for that, surely they can come up with something worse than living the high life in Europe and having to get his Oscar in the mail?

Hollywood has always been that way.

The rest of America does seem to be on a freight train , under this administration, to becoming morally like Hollywood.
