>but while in uniform they will obey lawful orders issued by the President and his civilian leaders.

And what is the final law, the Supreme Law of the Land?
Why, look at that, it’s that same Constitution the military is sworn to defend! So, ANY contra-constitutional orders ARE illegal; furthermore, the oath includes protecting said Constitution from enemies both foreign AND domestic... where am I leading to with this... a single sentence in the Constitution, important enough to get its own paragraph:

“No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.”

With Congress’s actions on the AIG bonuses AND the “Retroactive Immunity Repeal Act” they clearly show their blatant disregard to the Constitution in [at least] that area AND furthermore undermine ALL American Jurisprudence... a clear indication both of assault on the Judicial branch and/or negligence-of-the-highest-order in the Legislative.

Wishful thinking. It is not going to happen. When the Civil War started, not a single unit joined the Rebellion. The enlisted personnel continued to serve under the colors as their oaths required them to do, even though many were from the South. The officers who chose to join their states, resigned their federal commissions, bade farewell to their Regiments, and returned home. Only then did they rise up against the Union. It was a reflection of what they believed their Code of Honor required them to do.

Today’s officer corps will not rise up against a lawfully elected civil government, no matter what their personal feelings might be. If you think that they will, you just do not understand.
