On the open sea most tsunamis, no matter how large when they hit shore, are barely noticeable.

Yep, this ain't "The Poseidon Adventure."

That is the one I am talking about...there used to be a picture of Rove and Bush in front of it, can’t seem to find it on a Google search now.

Local radio reporting that water levels have dropped around the coast, indicating maybe a wave will arrive soon.

Oh boy.

Prayers up.

File picture of a seismograph. A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of up to 8.3 struck off the South Pacific island nation of Samoa on Tuesday, triggering a tsunami as coastal residents fled to higher ground. (AFP/USGS/File)

or nothing at all. large tsunami’s out to sea are typically only 6”-8” rolling waves.

What happens if a cruise ship is docked near the location of an incoming tsunami, I wonder?

Probably just like Navy ships in the path of a hurricane. Skededdle out to sea.

****Local radio reporting that water levels have dropped around the coast, indicating maybe a wave will arrive soon***

First, I pray for they continued safety of your family.

If I recall correctly there can be a series of waves that comprise a tsunami. I hope this was referring to the one earlier and that there are no more.
