Joseph Smith once said, "Even this nation will be on the verge of crumbling to pieces and tumbling to the ground and when the Constitution is on the brink of ruin this people will be the staff upon which the nation shall lean and they shall bear the Constitution away from the very verge of destruction." and "The time would come when the constitution and government would hang by a brittle thread and would be ready to fall into other hands but this people the latter-day saints will step forth and save it." LOL, so its a mormon prophecy he's following? ... Romney/Beck for President?

“I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH BECK’S SILLY NOTION THAT “IT’S ABOUT BOTH PARTIES.” IT IS NOT!”
You are 100% right.
It’s sad, but these ‘great leaders’ whether in the Republican Party or talk-radio or what have you ... they are doing good work, but they do lack the depth and thoughtfulness to THINK THROUGH what is REALLY GOING ON.
Comparing the GOP and Democrats as problems is like comparing the flu and brain cancer as ‘both diseases’. The level of seriousness of what they do is not comparable.

Beck takes on serious subjects with, yes, bombasity, but his style of a serious/silly showman is just that. Beck is not the be-all-end-all and yet he is now not insignificant. While he plays himself as must-watch tv it is obvious that he knows that he is just one (now) heavyweight in a growing movement of center-right media that includes a potpouri of talent from Rush to Laura to Levin to Malkin to Coulter to....etc. The only significant mistake he made IMO is to flatly say Obama is a racist in such a blunt way. The very same thing could have been said by highlighting Obama's belief in core affirmative action principles and then highlighting those programs/principles as race-based, ie., racist. A fair assessment.
I think he has a point in that the left is building up Beck because his over-the-top comments can/are used to tranish him and his followers as nuts and racists.
This is not much different from the attempt in January to make Rush the 'leader of the GOP" and a 'traitor' for wanting Obama to fail.

This is idiocy and calls into question everything that follows. Glenn Beck is not doing stuff to hurt Obama. Glenn is doign stuff to defend our nation and our freedom. I am sure that Glenn would welcome Obama’s assistance on any of his efforts.

It is far past time for decent people to wake up and realize that when dealing with scumbags, civility is nothing but a self-imposed handicap. Roger that.

Beck is not against same sex marriage Not sure about that. He is a Mormon.
This was over Prop 8 in California.
The Mormons and their Constitutionally upheld right to oppose same-sex marriage. ...

Either you will love him or hate himI neither love him nor hate him. He's an pundit entertainer who occasionally hits the mark. That's all he is. To me, anyway.

I like Beck, but Im not enamored with him. Of course, I tend to look negatively on any cult-like treatment of people. People let us down. Maybe I overreact sometimes, but I see danger in cults of personality. We need to be about ideas, not the people who espouse them. When people fall into personality cults, they stop thinking about the ideas, and start defending the person, even when the person isnt making any sense. With Beck (and its not his fault, its the people listening), you see it here at FR, you can hardly discuss anything negative about him without some people making personal attacks. The same is true for Sarah Palin. Her biggest problem on the right is a subset of followers who essentially worship her, making it difficult to discuss anything about her without it turning into a personal slugfest. Well stated.
I don't like the Obama cult-of-personality. It would be crazy and nuts to try to build one on our side as a response.
It's time people realized that is is their own responsibility, self-worth, individualism, and patriotism that is needed for America to succeed, not the blind following of any leader. We need servant leaders, but those servant leaders will never be perfect.
"If we focus on the issues, policies, ideology, then we can be largely immune to being misled by a popular leader. Ive seen local politics overrun by these cult-like leaders who grab an issue, use bombastic language and disregard for facts to gather a large following, and then use that following to advance their own pet causes."
Yes, indeed. Very unhealthy.

He’s definitely not on a par with O’Reilly. He’s much more honest than Bill.

Beck is not against same sex marriage, burning of the American flag. In other words, he is in favor of living in a FREE Republic.

The author specifies that this is not about Mark Levin, and there is no quote from Levin here. Nope but I listen to Levin via iTunes subscription, and he spends a lot of time insulting Weiner(Savage) Nation, and took a few shots at Glenn, it does not become him.

The Republican Party is not going to do diddly-squat about shrinking the cost, bureaucracy, and social engineering interference of government until they have the fear of God that patriotic Americans will throw them out if they don’t. Period.
