Was the girl’s mother present at the photo shoot? If not, why not? If so, where was she and what was she doing when her child was being violated?

The mother wasn't there. Read the transcript. At one point, Polanski phones the mother to tell her that the girl will be brought back “late” while he and the girl are dividing up the Quaalude.

I believe the mother gave permission for the photo session.. I am sure she didn’t think it would lead to this but c’mon. You NEVER leave a child in that situation for the love of Pete. That is what I did not get in the Jesse Dirkhising case.
Even stranger, I believe Samantha Geimer showed up at the premiere of the film about Polanski that came out recently.
