Student's beating death sparks outrage (Obama's community organizing really paying off)

Three teenagers were charged Monday in the beating death of a 16-year-old Chicago honor roll student on his way home from school, a melee captured on a cell phone video that shows a group striking him with boards and kicking him as he lay on a sidewalk.

The death of Derrion Albert, a sophomore at Christian Fenger Academy High School, on Thursday has reignited community outrage over chronic violence involving city students and is putting pressure on school and police officials to address gang problems that often are at the root of such violence.

The Chicago public school system is the nation's third-largest and has about 407,000 students in 666 schools. More than 30 students were killed in 2008, according to district figures, and this year's toll could be higher.

This is so sad. A kid that was trying to make something of himself gets murdered, all because of good intentions: 50 YEARS of good intentions of naive liberals who seek via their “Great Society” to solidly ensconce themselves in permanent power.

Unbelievable that the black community doesn’t seem to have any clue what has happened to them.

The attack occurred outside the Agape Community Center:

"Organized" South Chicago -- where even Christian community centers must be built like fortresses...

Nice "community organizing", Øbozo!

Well, I write from Chicago and the sad fact is that there is no outrage at all. There WOULD be outrage—Jesse Jackson, Sharpton, the media,etc.etc.— if a white cop punched a Black Chicago gang member in the nose. But the killing of a Black kid by a Black mob evokes sadness and sympathy for the dead child and his heartbroken family. But no one in that community is really outraged. Or even particularly surprised. The tolerance for violent crime and violent criminals in this community is limitless.

When two sets of scum are in conflict the set with the largest numbers generally wins. Chicago’s larger gangs can field tens of thousands when they want and don’t need motorcycles to get there. My statement is not changed and never denied the vicious predatory nature of the other beasts.

Parts of Chicago are dangerous. Other parts as safe as your town.

It has always been corrupt.

Is there any word on the motivation for the murder?

Kid was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Unbelievable tragedy.
Prayers for this young man’s family.
On our way to the State Fair, we are forced to drive thru the warzone here in Little Rock (thankfully they will be moving the fair soon) and I am truly saddened for all the decent folks who are trapped there and prevented by law from doing what is necessary to clean up these potentially beautiful communities (some really cool old houses that could use some TLC).

True. As for corruption that is endemic.

Little Rock’s murder rate is higher than Chicago’s.
