Exactly, coming from the SUNSHINE state. All northern states look dirty to Floridians. You have mud, streets are dirty, ours are not. NEVER!

It’s obvious to me that you have never been to FL or spent any significant amount of time here unlike the hundreds of thousands of people worldwide that flock to Fl each year and spend thousands of dollars for a vacation in paradise.

Why would anyone want to live in a big, dirty, corrupt, industrial city that is the murder capital of the world when they could live in Florida? Truth is, many didn’t and they now live here.

We never freeze in the winter which means we can grow Key Limes, Pineapples, Avocados, Mangoes, Plumeria, Ylang Ylang and hundreds of other tropical plants and fruits. We can grow tomatoes, green beans, you name it, almost all WINTER long.

The sun shines almost every single day. While you are bundled up in the cloudy, freezing, dismal weather and dealing with the slick streets, shoveling snow, then slopping through the mud when the snow melts, we are here with our windows open, fresh, clean air, southeasterly trade winds blowing in from the open ocean.

We can go diving on the coral reefs, snorkeling, fishing, to the beach anytime we want. We can go fishing, night or day and come in with enough Snapper, Dolphin and Grouper to feed us for a month. We can catch stone crabs in the winter and lobster in the summer. I have over 100 lobster in my freezer and well over 50 pounds of Hog Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Mangrove Snapper Grouper and Dolphin in my freezer. All fresh, caught in clean water.

Our summer temperatures rarely go over 90, unlike the heat waves up there that reach into the high 90’s. Where we live we don’t have to worry about getting mugged, there are no gangs, I don’t have to make sure my door is locked in the day. The smell of the ocean air, the night blooming jasmine and the Frangipani blooms can be smelled a mile from shore when we are coming in from the ocean.

I have a close friend that was born and raised in Chicago and now lives in Sarasota. I spent a month with her one winter and it was the dreariest, most depressing month of my entire life. I could barely see the sky, unlike here where the sky seems go on forever. I think we night have had 2-3 days that were sunny. Traffic was horrendous and I think half the entire city is composed of minorities. The streets were dirty. My car was filthy everyday. The air was polluted.

I could go on and on, but I’m sure you understand by now. So while you are sitting in your house, with your yard and entire city bare of any green foliage for months on end, day after day of bitter cold and cloudy days, I will be sitting here with my windows open, temps of around 72, gentle SE breezes, crystal clear sunny skies, breathing the clean air, and thanking God I am here and not there.

LOL .. and for the fair and balanced view ... I lived in FL for over 30 yrs ... lost everything in one hurricane in SFla, went thru a living hell for almost a year afterward, then moved to Central FL and lost my mind after 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks in ‘04... and I begged to leave, no had to nearly be carried out, I was such a basket case. Had a total breakdown .. had to go on meds with the stress.

Now in IL, I’ll put up with ANYthing here .. frigid temps, snow, gray skies, ice .. I don’t care what. Life is wonderful ... there’s NO hurricanes. I couldn’t get away fast enough from that demon. Coincidentally, there’s also no roaches, mosquitoes and suffocating humidity, which I’m thrilled are gone from my life.

So remember, to each his own ...

Please tell me you don't have mosquitoes and I will be right down! It sounds like heaven!

Your home page has me in tears...but thank you for reminding me how to think and reason how we became beneficiaries of the greatest nation in the world....and how easily we might lose it to the traitors within.
