President Obama will travel to Copenhagen to make a pitch for Chicago’s Olympic bid, White House officials have confirmed to NBC News.
Obama will leave for Denmark Thursday night, hours after his wife Michelle departs for the vote. The president made the final decision Saturday night after returning from the G20 summit in Pittsburgh.
The announcement ends months of speculation of whether the president would lend his considerable fame to the pitch. The president has dropped hints all month long that he may attend the event.
Last week he sent an advance team to Copenhagen just in case he could make it ...

We can go diving on the coral reefs, snorkeling, fishing, to the beach anytime we want. We can go fishing, night or day and come in with enough Snapper, Dolphin and Grouper to feed us for a month. We can catch stone crabs in the winter and lobster in the summer. I have over 100 lobster in my freezer and well over 50 pounds of Hog Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Mangrove Snapper Grouper and Dolphin in my freezer. All fresh, caught in clean water.
Our summer temperatures rarely go over 90, unlike the heat waves up there that reach into the high 90’s. Where we live we don’t have to worry about getting mugged, there are no gangs, I don’t have to make sure my door is locked in the day. The smell of the ocean air, the night blooming jasmine and the Frangipani blooms can be smelled a mile from shore when we are coming in from the ocean.
Please tell me you don't have mosquitoes and I will be right down! It sounds like heaven!

They spray for mosquitoes. The southeasterly trade winds usually keep them away. Once in a while if we have had lots of rain and no wind, there are mosquitoes in some places. Also if the wind is from the West it can blow them in from the Everglades. But I’ve seen mosquitoes my entire life so it’s not a big deal to me. Put on some Avon Skin So Soft cream and they won’t come anywhere near you. It’s usually only around sunset, then they go away when it gets dark.
You never have mosquitoes? Even in the summer? I don’t know why so many people think Florida is full of mosquitoes all year. I only notice them after rain, in the summer. Rarely from November to May.
I just noticed you are from Georgia. We are looking at real estate for a getaway cabin near the NE border with NC. Prices are great right now, so far we have found some nice ones.
Obama has diminished the presidency even more than Jimmy Carter.
