Whole Foods may seem like an unlikely target of liberals, but it is one of the current cause-celebs round these parts.
Ever since the grocery store's CEO wrote a Wall Street Journal editorial that opposed President Barack Obama's health care reform bill, they have tried everything to get back at one John Mackey.
If you've been to a Whole Foods lately you can attest to the fact that the call for a boycott isn't working. The parking lots remain packed and the lines are still long. This weekend in Oakland people who believe health care is a right tried a new and quite entertaining tactic that used a "flash mob-like" feature.
Protesters picked a store in Oakland, a song and a group of clumsy singer/dancers to pull it off.
They walked in the store separately, band members and all, and spread out amongst the aisles. After pretending to shop for a few minutes, the mob made their way to the one spot in the store that had room for a dancing number. They all gathered right there in front of the refrigerated guac and salsa, singing their hearts out to the tune of Tony Basil's "Hey Mickey."
A bewildered security guard had only his cell phone to fight. After quickly dialing, the poor guy just had to take it. The group got off not one, but two reditions of their protest song before going outside for more singing on the sidewalk.
"We believe that every human being has a right to health care, and most Americans agree. But conservatives have dominated this debate because they're willing to be loud. So it's time for us to make some noise of our own, and stand up for health care that we can afford even if we're not CEOs like Mackey," Sarah Norr said.
They said they were inspired by their conservative counterparts who have been dramatizing the health care debate.
Noone was arrested.
...Except for ones the government deems don't deserve it.
I saw a “Single Payer Healthcare Now” bumper sticker on the floor of the Powell Street BART station in San Francisco. I haven’t seen any such stickers anywhere else.
I still shop at Whole Foods.
“We think the other side is being too loud so we’re going to be really loud and make total jackasses of ourselves to prove that we’re bigger putzes than everyone else put together.” I love the way liberals behave. It would be amusing if there weren’t so much at stake.
Now whether someone can afford or are willing to pay for the service might be different.
I have the right to keep and bear arms.
Whether I chose or can afford to excercise that right is up to me.
Likewise, people have the right to healthcare.
Whether they chose or can afford to excercise that right is up to them.
The libtards have every right to donate to a pool to provide health care to whoever wants it.

In fact, liberals hate not having any music playing even more.
Think about that one. So many places we go, there is music, television or some kind of background noise. This is because people are terrified of being alone with their own thoughts.
Try this experiment. When in a restaurant, store or other place where you are the paying customer, ask that the music be turned off... People will look at you like they just had a shiite in their drawers...
To believe that, is to believe that every human being has the right to enslave others for his benefit.
Your basic point is good but it’s not correct to say there’s a right to healthcare. Healthcare involves two people (you and your doctor) whereas keeping & bearing arms involves only one person (you). If you can’t find someone willing to provide you the service of healthcare, then you are out of luck. Thus you have no right to healthcare. What you do have is the right to pursue healthcare (so to speak) and the right to enter into an agreement with someone willing to provide that service to you. That’s a nitpicky distinction but it’s important to hold the line. If you cede even an inch to the left on this one, they’ll take a mile.
So some ACORN-like group hires 10 people to sing a song and dance and that's a threat? Everyone knows liberals do "rent-a-crowd" and "rent-a-goon" stuff. No one thinks they represent the people... no one... (well except the MSM-but only because they're fools)
There is a Whole Foods not too far from us that we had never visited until this boycott started.
DW and I have made a decision to make this our routine grocery store. Some of the prices are actually the best in town, and the others are decent. Overall we might end up spending a couple of bucks a week more, but the political statement is worth it.
I like the “right to bear arms” analogy. I have a right to access arms. But that doesn’t mean taxes should be used to buy me a gun and keep me supplied with ammo. No one should be denied access to health insurance or medical care. That’s why I agree it is wrong for insurance companies to drop people when they get major illnesses. But it is also wrong to use taxes to buy everyone health care.
