Maybe I’m old fashioned, but if I were going to meet a head of state, and I was bringing my kids, I would tell them that I didn’t give two cents what they liked. They were going to look presentable.

If that were my kids, they will dress like I tell them until they are old enough to buy their own clothes, and have their own house...now THAT is old fashioned.

Sounds reasonable. I remember hearing something like that when I was a kid. Not about my dress, just the, “you will do as I say until you are 18 and move out of the house”.
