Let's see Obama spin this one!
By now readers may be aware that the health care bill proposed by Democrats creates an individual mandate which requires all Americans to buy health insurance (illegal aliens will still be able to get their care free).
Even though then Sen. Obama campaigned for office against a mandate, he's on record supporting one now and claiming that it does not constitute a tax even though just about everyone else concedes it is a tax.
Republicans in the U.S. Senate tried to get the individual mandate removed from the bill Democrats are pushing rapidly through the Senate Finance Committee but their amendment was voted down on a largely party line vote.
What readers may not be aware of is the penalty for not buying insurance is more than a fine. It may also include jail time. Senator John Ensign (R-NV) questioned Senate Finance Committee Chief of Staff Thomas Barthold on the issue of penalties and got a handwritten response:

We have to get this message out to all those twenty somethings that gleefully voted for the Bamster!!!
HA!
Lets see how much they hate the free enterprise system NOW!
They won’t care.
What are they going to do if 50 million people REFUSE to buy insurance. They can’t put everybody in jail.
Maybe it is time for a good REVOLT!!
So not having health insurance will become a federal crime?
Take a look at WHO will enforce this...THE IRS.
They can Seize YOUR bank account.
THAT is why the proposal to allow the HHS Secretary to access your bank account is so important. Not only will they force you into the Fascist HCS, they will drain your bank account to pay for it. Time to buy a safe.
Let see:
1. The jail part was always true. If you don’t pay taxes, governments take it seriously.
2. If many young adults are really not buying insurance as a matter of choice as I believe, what will matter to them is the amount of cash it costs them. Also young adults will need to be informed that there will be no buying a month of insurance to show the card to get your tag and DL and then let it lapse.
3. Young adults will probably ignor this so it is good that this bill also cuts back on elderly health care and they vote.
Consider a strategy to amend the bill to replace jail time with capital punishment. Kind of like a “poison pill” for health care “reform”. Might as well, as no matter how its spun, it amounts to capital punishment for elderly, even paying this tax.
I refuse to pay the tax. I will not allow an arrest. Time to resist.

I would like to know how people making let’s say under $30k with a family supposed to afford to buy this insurance, make their house payments, etc.?
Wow if you do not do what “Big Govt” says for your own good; You will be fined and you will go to jail. Something is wrong with this picture.
This is to continue stealing the wealth of the middle class and the next generation, AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HEALTH.
I think each of us needs to point blank ask our congressional “representatives”: “Are you going to vote to send me to jail?”
I have come to the conclusion that ‘they’ seriously don’t give a hoot.
Live in a tent if you have to, pay up, serf!
Cordially,
Tax and jail, YES. But remember—they’re just doing what’s BEST FOR US!!!
The ones that are working and suddenly their company drops their insurance or they are ‘little nerds without ins” WILL care, when they can’t spend their money on Itunes, Starbucks, etc.
Most of them are young , healthy kids, shacking up together or with roomates. They never got insurance ‘cause I’m never sick”...suddenly they will be forced to get health insurance and cough up the money. then they will be yelping,”HEY THAT’S NOT FAIR!!!”
THIS ALL HASN’T HIT THEM YET CAUSE THEY ARE STILL IN oBOZO DREAMLAND.
Send me to jail..! ;)
