wo suicide car bombs killed at least 12 people and wounded dozens in separate attacks in northwest Pakistan on Saturday, just days after the Taliban warned more suicide strikes were coming if the military pressed forward with an army offensive.
Pakistan’s mountainous, lawless northwest region along the Afghan borderwhere the government holds little control
An Associated Press reporter at the scene saw vehicles overturned by the blast, buildings gutted and glass scattered everywhere. Most of the casualties were customers in the bank or people loitering outside.
“We saw body parts in the car and our investigation confirms it was a suicide attack,” said Malik Shafqat, a police official in Peshawar.
A suicide blast also hit a police station in the province’s Bannu district earlier Saturday, killing at least six people and wounding nearly 70 others, police said. The Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack.
The latest strikes came two days after the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan said it was ready to stage more suicide attacks in the region after it was ousted from the Swat Valley in July by an army offensive.
Qari Hussain Mehsudknown for training Taliban suicide bomberswarned of more attacks in an AP interview at a secret location in North Waziristan on Thursday, just hours before U.S. missiles hit the area and killed 12 people.
“We have enough suicide bombers and they are asking me to let them sacrifice their lives in the name of Islam, but we will send suicide bombers only if the government acts against us,” he said in the interview.

“Blasts rock north-west Pakistan”
SNIPPET: “At least 13 people have been killed in two suicide car bomb attacks in north-western Pakistan.
Seven people are reported to have been killed and dozens injured in a bombing in the city of Peshawar.
Earlier, a suicide car bomb in the town of Bannu also killed at least six people, police said.”
SNIPPET: “A Taliban commander who trains suicide bombers claimed responsibility for the Bannu attack in a call to Reuters on Saturday.
“The government was taking undue advantage of our silence,” said Qari Hussain, who claimed to be a spokesman for Hakimullah Mehsud.
“We will carry out more such attacks and these will be much more powerful,” he added.”
I’m just glad to be way out in the burbs with my acres and my dog and my guns.
Though there is some small consolation in the likelihood that terrorist attacks would target Democrat parasite nests (”cities”), the wind can take radiation fallout into civilized areas, and that is not good.
“Im just glad to be way out in the burbs with my acres and my dog and my guns.”
Ditto.
How true. couldn’t have put it better myself. Cheers to that!!!!
I don’t understand. This was supposed to stop once Obama got elected. Mmmmm, mmmmm, mmm....
A Taliban suicide bomber earlier crashed his explosives-laden truck into a police station in Bannu, also in northwestern Pakistan, killing six people and wounding 30, police said. The gov't should just put up or shut up. Put good old fashioned Islamic death sentences ("wanted dead or alive") on all who engage in anti-gov't terrorism. And just to let everyone know they're not kidding, roll into one of the border provinces and completely annihilate the rebellious dominant clan. As in, get rid of every last member of it. And pile the carcasses up to be devoured by buzzards. It puts the gov't in charge of who does and doesn't get to heaven (according to Muzzie stupidstition).
Correction: A huge HUGH explosion.
