My son caught one last night and put it in a partially full bottle of water. It squirted out a good volume of white milk colored substance.

I’m in Texas and they’ve been around since I was baby. I still see em when they’re green and more potent. It’s a chemical smell...Sort of like strong ammonia mixed with garlic.
Let me guess...
Long about January 20th?
We were plagued by huge numbers of boxelder bugs at our previous house.
Two years ago in the spring I laid down a LOT of that Ortho granular around the foundations of the house and nearby barn.
Huge improvement.
It’s on my shopping list! Not plagued by anything (yet) but I want to have it available. So thank you!!
We have them, too, in Wisconsin. Along with the Asian ladybug. Both are a PITA to get rid of in the house.
LOL! I guess it is.
During the recent rains here in TX., I had an invasion of small snails all over the place (outside) crawling up all the walls. I kept a broom by the door and would sweep in front of me to keep from crunching them. Disgusting. We also had an invasion of web worms, little catapillar typw worms crawing all over the place. YUCK. Hated it.
I had those yucky snails climbing up the wall. I got out a box of salt and sprinkled it all over them. The result was even grosser. The salt takes all the water out of them and they just kind of melted all over the wall!
They have been in the DC area forever.
That makes even me want to go “ewwwwwww”!
HAHA! Hope you were not eating dinner when you read it.
I really, really dislike these things. They started showing up around my area only a couple of years ago. We hadn’t seen many of them this year until 2 days ago when the temperature went up into the ‘80’s. At least the rain we’re seeing drove the little twerps back into hiding.
They fly in a fairly uncoordinated fashion, making an annoying buzzing sound and they’ll run into and land on people without a 2nd thought.
Yep, they invaded my house last week. My place smelled like old wet laundry.
I initially treated them with care, thinking they were members of congress.
