Iran (search) may be hiding its nuclear technology inside special tunnels because of threats of attack by the United States, Tehran's chief nuclear negotiator said in an interview published Friday.
Hassan Rowhani (search), who has been negotiating with Germany, Britain and France over Iran's uranium enrichment program (search), was asked by an interview for the Le Monde newspaper: "Is it accurate that Iran has built tunnels meant to serve Iran's nuclear activities?"
Rowhani responded that reports Iran was building tunnels to hide its nuclear technology "could be true," he said.
"From the moment the Americans threaten to attack our nuclear sites, what are we to do? We have to put them somewhere," Rowhani said.
President Bush who once called Iran part of an "axis of evil" with North Korea and prewar Iraq has insisted that Tehran must not develop nuclear weapons, but he said Tuesday in Brussels, Belgium, it is "simply ridiculous" to assume that the United States has plans to attack Iran over its alleged nuclear weapons program.

Bush warned people of these tunnels, but he wasn’t a “gifted speaker” like Zero so no one paid attention.
D U H
Seymour Hersch wrote in the New Yorker that Bush was going to bomb Iran’s secret sites and then the Libs in congress threatened to pass legislation preventing Bush from doing anything so they must have known about it.
The U.N. better act quickly and write a strongly worded letter.
Those letters have really paid off.
To hell with the warnings! That why the "bunker-busters" were developed!
There was a time when he could have reclaimed the high ground and attacked...........why he did not I don't know, I wish he had..
Iran has hundreds of thousands of miles of qanats of all sizes and conditions. Of course they hide stuff in them. They’ve been building these things for 6,000 or so years, mostly to support extensive irrigation systems, but also to store things, hide in, get warm in winter and cool in summer.
The UN couldn’t stop Quadaffi from going over his alloted time limit for speaking what makes any normal thinking person believe that would or could actual stop the Iranians from nukes and hiding them.
this is news? more like DUHHHHHHH.....
in other news the sun will rise tomorrow....
***U.N. officials familiar with the IAEA’s attempts to monitor and probe Iran's nuclear activities have previously told The AP that they suspected Iran might be running undeclared enrichment plants.
The existence of a secret Iranian enrichment program built on black market technology was revealed seven years ago. Since then the country has continued to expand the program with only a few interruptions as it works toward its aspirations of a 50,000-centrifuge enrichment facility at the southern city of Natanz.***

“White House officials said Western intelligence agencies have been tracking the facility for years. Obama said officials from the United States, France and Britain briefed the IAEA in Vienna on Thursday on what they knew about the facility. The three heads of state decided to publicly disclose the existence of the facility after learning that Iran had become aware the site was no longer a secret.”

"Nothing" except establish strong military presence on two borders of Iran, and also a very strong naval presence in the Persian Gulf.
A simple look at the map would tell you that Bush did one hell of a lot to establish the necessary strategic platforms from which to deal with Iran militarily.
Beyond which, it would be silly to assume that covert activities in Iran were not also being undertaken during that time.
As for the lack of overt agression toward Iran ...well, two wars at a time, please. Bush would never have gotten Congressional backing for a third.

Not really a “secret” site if it had been known and warned about for “years”. I think Iran knew we knew but just didn't give a damn and still don't give a damn.
