Well, obviously, this is a fake, since it says he was born in Honolulu. /sarc
Seriously, it is not just about where he was born, but where he has been a citizen. Clearly, we have documents that claim he was a citizen of Indonesia. So, when did BO become an American citizen again, or did he have dual citizenship? Does the constitution allow for a president with dual citizenship?
The whole bloody thing stinks. We should be asking for all his records, not just the birth certificate.
Whether he was born here or not and was an Indonesian citizen or not (and I do think they are very important issues), what is the most critical impact of these issues is that Barak did not grow up culturally as an American and is probably the reason he appears to hate American values. While I’ve never believed he is a Muslim since he professes Christianity (I’m not going to judge the quality of his faith), I do believe that he is very comfortable around Muslims, extreme terrorists as well as more moderate ones. And THAT is going to cost us all.
The man is NOT a United States citizen.
We are! Only his birth certificate would result in his immediate removal from the People's House, however.
It's silent on the issue. It requires a person to be a Natural Born Citizen to be eligible to the office of President. Is dual citizenship, if acquired after birth rather than at birth, incompatible with Natural Born citizenship. I don't think it is, but maybe it should be. The reason the NBC provision is in the Constitution is, to quote John Jay, to "provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government". He wrote this in a letter to G. Washington before it had even been decided that their would be a single executive. In this letter, dated July 25, 1787, Jay wrote:
Permit me to hint, whether it would not be wise & seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expresly that the Command in chief of the american army shall not be given to, nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.
