I had a college room mate that once took it a step further... I guess it was meant to happen, because he was arrested for public intoxication shortly after having read Tom Robbin's
Still Life with Woodpecker. (That book isn't exactly the
Anarchist Cookbook, but it does have some interesting recipes.) Once in lock-up he stuffed the toilet so that it wouldn't flush, and then requested that they come unstop his toilet with some Drano. They obliged, not having known that he had (prior to creating the stoppage) already flushed several large balls of aluminum foil that he had kept from the meals that were being served. While I understand the chemical reaction and what would have happened in a sealed container, I can't explain exactly what happened - I wouldn't have thought that the sewer system would have contained the pressure... But he succeeded in blowing a large hole in the wall. The hole caused a flood of sewage on the entire cell block, and caused major disruption. I've been trying to figure out the physics on that one for years.

BTW... He wasn't my roommate any more after that incident. He was out of school for a year. They couldn't pin the "manufacturing an explosive device on him, because at no time did he ever possess any Drano. The reaction was caused by a chemical reaction, but he had only provided a stopped up toilet...
