And *true conservatives* are?
I propose a solution to this mystery. It seems to me that the self-described “true conservatives” who are complaining about fundamentalist pressure on JimRob on this thread are actually Libertarians.
Strictly speaking, Libertarians aren’t “conservatives,” because they refuse to “conserve” the founding tradition of the “nation of liberty under God.” They tend to object to that God part.
They simply want to banish religion from the Public Square, and that’s the long and the short of it. They are the ones doing the “pressuring” of JimRob.
Well, that’s just my humble opinion, for whatever it’s worth.
I buy it partially. I indeed think there are a handful of Libertarians, a strange lot when it comes to defense/military issues, wasn’t aware of the anti-public-Christianity angle...
but I think there’s a much larger amount of closet FR liberals doing their very best to 5th column FR.
Well I think you're probably right about that, tpanther! FR is what you'd call a "rich target" ....
I'm bearing in mind a recent statement from David Horowitz, a "radical son" who recovered from Red Diaper Syndrome to become a leading conservative voice for our age. He said that the people who attack America are people who haven't spent 15 minutes in their entire lives thinking about what constitutes the Good Society. They are people whose own rise to power absolutely depends on destroying whatever they believe constitutes the social "status quo."
So, who are these people? They don't seem particularly friendly to the idea of liberty....
In the end, it doesn't matter what labels they wear. It's what they DO.
