A media advisory has gone out saying that a "major Virginia organization" is going to be endorsing Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli tomorrow.
Virtucon has heard via a leak (note: not from any of these campaigns) that this will be the Fraternal Order of Police, but has yet to confirm it formally. Coming on the heels of today's Fairfax Chamber of Commerce endorsement of McDonnell, I'd hazard to say that the old winning coalition assembled by Govs. George Allen and Jim Gilmore is coming back together for the GOP. As I said yesterday, Republicans win when they stand for something, not simply against someone.WHEN: Thursday, September 24th at 9AMWHERE: House Briefing Room in the General Assembly Building in Richmond
UPDATE: VV's Lighthorse has independently confirmed that it will be the FOP.
Sweet.
First the endorsement of the Farifax Chamber of Commerce. Now the Fraternal Order of Police.
Is this the predominate Police Association in Virginia?
Yes.
Excellent news then. I just know that in some states their are multiple unions and associations that represent law enforcement and fire in the area with overlapping jurisdictions. I hope McDonnell can pull it out, though Rasmussen has it as a Toss-Up.
And the NRA, the NFIB, and the BET executive. The RTD says in an article today that McDonnell and Doug Wilder have a better working relationship than do Deeds and Wilder. Wilder is supposed to make his endorsement soon.

Isn’t Wilder going to endorse Deeds soon?
I don’t see how a Wilder endorsement will be significant. If Obama can’t motivate blacks to come out Deeds, then I don’t see how Wilder could do any better.
Virginia ping.
Wilder like the attention. Though you’re probably right about its minimal effect on the outcome.
Wilder nod imminent in Virginia race
Former Virginia Gov. L. Douglas Wilder said he will announce his decision on a gubernatorial endorsement within the next two days and that Gov. Tim Kaine has personally requested that he back fellow Democrat R. Creigh Deeds.
A call from Mr. Kaine, who heads the Democratic National Committee, came after the former governor met with the Democratic hopeful on Monday, Mr. Wilder told The Washington Times.
Mr. Wilder, a Democrat, said he would break with tradition and make an announcement, which may not be an endorsement of either candidate, on Wednesday or Thursday.

If Wilder endorses Deeds the Dems will try to spin it as a big story. But in reality it’s a big yawn. It would change no one’s mind.
It’s only news if he doesn’t endorse or if he endorses McDonnell (which I think very unlikely).
The thing you have to remember about Doug Wilder is that it’s ALWAYS about Doug Wilder. That’s why he drags this out, so they’ll come and beg him to return to the fold.
Great news!
Right, they usually pick the winner.
Wilder didn’t endorse McDonnell, but declined to endorse Deeds.

That’s with major lobbying by The One and The Eyebrow (a.k.a. The Unibrow)
Interesting.
