Yes, Canada has been a loyal ally for most of our histories; with the exception of the War of 1812 when we (U.S.)attempted to invade Canada which was understandable and the Vietnam War. Otherwise, I believe they've been in the Fray with us every time...
While the Canadians are out of the session, they might use that time to initiate reform of their health care system.

I wish this was true but it isn’t. Frankly, Canada has choked on almost every occasion when a truly loyal ally would have stood up: starting with the Berlin Airlift, Cuban Missle crisis, Vietnam, Grenada, Able Archer, Panama,first Gulf war, attempted coup against Yeltsin, Second gulf war.
After sept 11, Jean Chretien said it’s nothing to do with us and attempted to blame the victim. It was only after he figured out the economic consequences of a closed border that he agreed to send troops to Afghanistan
