Here's Michael Ignatieff's big speech to the Toronto Board of Trade, in which he was expected to lay out the Liberal position on the economy.
If you can find a platform in here you have greater forensic abilities than I do. Other than an apparent plan to revive the Foreign Investment Review Agency, a Trudeau-era federal agency that was set up in 1974 and allowed to die an unlamented death a decade later, there is a notable lack of specifics.
Here's the few I could spot:
"Upon taking office, well conduct a full audit of our public finances. Well open the books and find out where we really are."
"Well also make the Parliamentary Budget Officer independent, so that we never have to go through this again. No more wishful projections. No more false promises. "
"Next, well develop a prudent and transparent plan to get our finances in order." (Okay, I know that's not specific, but I wanted to give you an idea of just how vapid this speech really is).
"We will balance the books without making the most vulnerable pay the price."
~snip~
I don't get this Ignatieff guy. I can't figure out what he believes. Because I don't think he knows.

I wonder if he was supposed to be Canada's Obama?
He is a Russian Count. Seriously.
Yes, and given a chance he'll never let you forget it.
He's a flipping arsehole looking for a pension.
The Libs have lost their minds . Get rid of Iggy and you're left with Bob Rae , who as a ndp , almost destroyed Ontario . We need another Mike Harris to get rid of the Ontario Doofus and I fear we don't have one , anywhere.
One of us could do it, lol. Our hearts are in the right place.
Got one answer.
What he "believes" is the same as a whole herd of very similar politicians down south of 49: He's the most wonderful, charismatic, deserving person to walk the earth (which he will tell anyone foolish enough to stop and listen ad nauseum) his ability to lead and motivate others is unmatched and in order to gain positions necessary to prove that theory he will tirelessly explain "Where I stand" on just about everything.
Problem is that the one and only thing he really stands for is re-election.
He stands for himself.
Then we’ll just set him up with his very own hermit country so he can limit himself to screwing himself instead of everyone around him.
Good plan.
