Politicians “betray” countries all the time.
Big fricken deal. Nixon, for example, derecognized (betrayed) Taiwan when he recognized China. If it takes such “betrayal” to end a dumb policy that needlessly poked Russia in the eye, that is the price that should paid.
I think that's much better than your idea that we should stop poking a stick in their eye ~ more forthright, and has a positive advantage ~ it's a commie slogan they should understand quite well.
Look, kissing Russian ass never got anyone anywhere ~ just ask Adolph Hitler.
Poland is an independant country and no longer under the Russian boot. Thus, Poland is allowed to make unilateral agreements with the U.S. without Russian interference. The far left and the Paulites don't understand this.
No, Russia SAYS they are doing that. If you believe them, and you believe standing up to an agressor state is “needlessly” poking them in the eye, then I have some land in the Gulf to sell you. Don’t mind it’s a thousand feet below water, I’ll say that I promise to drain it before you move in!
I was not in favor of the missile shield when it was first proposed because it seemed unnecessarily provacative of Russia. However, the situation is very different now. First, we have already provoked an antaganistic relationship with Russia and I don’t see that changing now regardless of what we do. Second, the Czech Republic and Poland have become two of our best allies and we talked them into signing on to this deal. They signed on despite Russia’s wrath and for us to abandon them now is a betrayal on the level of Chamberlain at Munich. This betrayal will have a huge affect on Eastern Europe and it may well spell doom for democratic forces in Ukraine and Georgia.
