Seriousness of this aside and just looking at it form political perspectives--Obama walks a very fine line here.

The leftists do not believe the terrorist threat is real. So, to emphasize any successes in this department he runs the risk of inflaming the moonbats.

OTOH, he very much needs middle America to know about and hear these successes in the WOT. Especially now.
