Hmmm. Probably easier to build a Faraday cage around a car or two, than a boat or a plane. Or for that matter, around just a couple of spare Bosch K-Jetronic ignitions, etc.
Canada would prob. be your destination of choice: language, abundant hydroelectric, and the Athabaska Tar Sands and Alberta oil patch to support the economy. That and the northern end of the wheat belt, which goes all the way up to the Peace River country. But you'd probably want to be on the other side of the Rockies anyway: more temperate over there, if soggier.
Someplace like Prince Rupert. Vancouver'd be too close to what was left of the States.
Coastal Alaska would work on the same terms -- U.S. Government, no firearms hassles. And no shortage of gasoline in Valdez.
Nah, I think heading North is a bad option. Freezing to death doesn’t appeal to me. Go somewhere warm, where if there is no power, you won’t freeze. Caribbean islands, Panama, places like that.
