Houston year-over-year job loss nearly 100,000
Houston-area employers sharply pared their payrolls, cutting 95,100 jobs between August 2008 and August 2009, the Texas Workforce Commission reported today.
That represents a 3.6 percent loss of jobs over that one-year period.
Were still bleeding, said Joel Wagher, labor market analyst for Workforce Solutions, which manages employment services, education and training for the area.
Weve lost jobs in almost every major sector except for education and health services, said Wagher
In 2006, the number of illegal aliens in Houston was estimated at 400,000.
I read that Texas now has upwards of 4 million illegal aliens...Let me see if I can find the link.
This puts the number at 1.4 million, but it is from Pew, so you can probably double that.
Yep, that’s a safe bet.
Thanks for the link.
From pew? Probably triple the figure.
