The joker posters image was created by a guy from Chicago, a Kucinich Democrat who was attacking Obama from the left. First sightings were in LA though, posted by some unknown member of the underground conservative resistance.

I doubt they were Photoshopped. But I have no way to vouch for them. Multiple LA blogs have reported on it.
The photographer in the photo is Gary Leonard who is somewhat of a celebrity photog. His photo may show up online at some point.

..I love it!! say, wasnt LA where the Obama/Joker posters began?Yup, that is where the image was taken of a photo sharing site, and put up all over Los Angeles area, making the image famous in just a matter of days. Not sure, but I think it was LA NBC channel 4 that first went with the story covering the posters that were being put up on freeway on ramps, etc.

I doubt they were Photoshopped. Anybody with photo editing software can download these pics and look at them. I'm convinced they're frauds.
I'll see if I can figure out how to post a close up.
Like I said, the pic with the photographer shows a very obvious pixelation problem in and around the grafitti when zoomed in. It was pasted on the wall via PC, not paint.
The otherphoto has some dappled sunlight all over the sidewalk and the monument, but the paint doesn't show the dappled sunlight pattern save for one spot that looks like the perpetrator tried to airbrush in with a photo editor.

Also, who is the photographer that will vouch for their authenticity?
To: sonofagun
The first one was taken by a Hot Air reader named Dave from an iPhone in LA. The second was found on FishbowlLA's blog. There have been other sitings according to the comments there.
Gary Leonard does not usually make his work available for free.

I'm not really trying to be difficult, but
for you to tell me that Dave, some Hot Air reader, took the photo is quite different from you telling me you took the pic.
At least I am not questioning your veracity when I simply don't trust third party sources.
Dan Rather lost his job over this kind of thing.
Still trying to figure out how to post some blow ups, but it's getting late and I'll probably just go to bed.

You may be right. I don't live in LA and have no way of verifying it or not.
I see the artifacts. But that is common when saving for size for the web. It is not really an indicator of anything. But everything is not a conspiracy.
Even if somebody did fake these photos and post them to the web comparing that to Dan Rather trying influence a federal election is bit much.

Even if somebody did fake these photos and post them to the web comparing that to Dan Rather trying influence a federal election is bit much. Yeah, that's a stretch. But the principle of proper document verification remains the same.

Which graffiti gets more observation? A spray painted defaced public utility or a Photoshopped image on the Internet?
