Pataki ahead of Gilly in Senate poll (NY Senate seat in play)

Former Republican Gov. George Pataki has leapt ahead of Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand in an hypothetical U.S. Senate match-up, according to a new poll out this morning.

The statewide Marist College survey found voters would narrowly favor the three-term governor - 48 percent to 44 percent - over the freshman senator if the 2010 election were held today. That's an eight-point swing from a similar poll in July, when Pataki trailed Gillibrand 42 percent to 46 percent.

I can see landslide victory for GOP in 2010 if New York Senate seat is in play.

Pataki could actually win..and I'm 100% sure he would not follow the example of L.Graham, F.Thompson and J.McCain by joining Senate Centrist Coalition to advance that bipartisan liberal crap.

I wish he were ‘black’, just so we could show people it’s about PRINCIPLE and not skin color.

Gilly just voted to continue funding Acorn. She thought this was a safe move in liberal NY. HAH!

How quickly the political landscape is changing. The media continues to bash Rush and Beck but even here in NY most people are reaching the same conclusions they are talking about. I know lots of people here in NY who voted for Zero who are now scared to death of what he is doing to the country.

The nation may face a very rough next couple of months. I expect by springtime the Dems will turn on Obumah. The rats will try to claw their way out of the stinking holes of his sinking ship.

Pass the popcorn please.

She was one of 7 Senators who voted to continue funding ACORN.

These liberals forget about the rest of the state. My county went for Mcain/Palin. It was the upstate counties that gave Pataki his win over Cuomo, and they can do it again.

Isn’t Pataki a RINO? RINO’s don’t actually run, i.e. put their money where their mouths are. Instead, they tell the rest of us what it takes to win.

Pataki increased the state spending more than his Democratic predecessor. Pataki approved gay-rights, bias crime bills, restricted the medical insurance “conscience clause” for religious institutions, increased gun regulations (We still have an Assault Weapon Ban in NY) and repudiated term limits. He was a complete disaster for NY and left the NY Republican Party in disaray. He would definitely be a RHINO.

"I can see landslide victory for GOP in 2010 ...."

Not if the GOP's history of "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" is factored in.

oh I get that!
But the fact that the first “republican” name to pop up is Pataki shows what a sad bunch we are in NY

Nope, polling data wasn’t good for him. He’s running for reelection to his House seat.
