President Obama has pledged medical-malpractice reform as part of his overhaul of the nation's health-care system. Defensive medicine is estimated to waste $200 billion a year that otherwise could be spent curing the sick, mending the injured or even insuring the uninsured.
Our nation is blessed with many hundreds of unbiased people qualified to lead this tort-reform effort.
After thinking about it for a day, the president picked Kathleen Sebelius, his Health and Human Services secretary who before she was governor of Kansas served eight years as president of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association. Surprised? Don't be.
The trial lawyers are one of the most powerful and moneyed Democratic special interests in Washington, and the president's promise was just a publicity stunt to demonstrate his alleged bipartisanship.
What would you expect from an administration that has Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd spearheading financial-industry reforms?
Ping to a Republican-American Editorial.
If you want on or off this list, let me know.
Good, maybe as a lawyer, she will understand the situation and be able to separate the truth from all the wahoo hysteria and insurance company/GOP lies on this issue.
parsy, who cringes every time he hears this tort reform nonsense
Who in the world does he expect to buy this BS? It’s been so deep the last couple of weeks he should include a new pontoon boat for every family with each “pledge”.
Good one. Thanks for the ping Graybeard.
