The 'Two Party' sham - the mask is slipping - ALAN KEYES
Loyal to Liberty ^ | Sept. 17, 2009 | Alan Keyes

Posted on 09/17/2009 1:41:39 PM PDT by EternalVigilance

My last posting has sparked numerous and thoughtful responses, as well as lively discussions, in many quarters. Reading them I think the following analysis may be worth sharing.

Some people adamantly make arguments based on the notion that we presently have a two party electoral system. This phrase purports to refer to a system in which people freely select from amongst a wide range of different possibilities, two alternatives, and then choose freely between them. My knowledge of the facts, as well as extensive firsthand experience, have forced me to conclude that this is simply not so. There is no such 'two party system'. The American people are presently suffering under a 'one faction' elite political monopoly reflecting the collusion of powerful elites across different sectors of our national life. These elites share a common spirit, one that rejects the basic premises of constitutional self-government, i.e., the principles of just government articulated in the American Declaration of Independence. Because they differ as to the alternative that should replace the form of government required by those principles, real disagreement and competition exists among them. But they agree in accepting the unspoken premise that government of, by, and for the people was never more than a half-truth, and is now at best an (arguably) useful fiction.

This article is a follow up to the one he posted on his LoyaltoLiberty.com site yesterday, which I also posted here on FR:

Yes, he is thought provoking. That’s why I like him. I may not always agree, but he always makes me think. That’s good for everyone.

Shame not everyone thinks.

I think the 2 parties, the republicans and the socialists (formerly the democrats, then the liberals, then the progressives, and if they keep on the same path, marxists and communists) have leakage between them. Its up to conservatives to maintain a goal of stopping the leakage, all the while at least minimizing it. Practically, the best short term approach IMHO is to apply the maximum pressure, take advantage of the prevailing and now favorable tailwinds, and get the republican party back on track. This is a center-right country, and the independents are waking up to what we have as a country wrought last November.

That has been my take on the two parties since I joined FR 11 years ago. Here is my profile.

Here is my take on politics There is no Constitutional justification, or encouragement for us having a two party system.

So why do we have this ugly situation?

Two political gangs, the Republicans, and the Socialists (who have taken over the democrat party) divide the political spoils between them, and make sure no outside candidate, or third political party can ever get elected-with a few minor exceptions.

As a right wing democrat who doesn't have a party anymore, I mostly vote for the stupid, politically inept, anti labor Republicans, because I feel they do less damage to the country and family, and are more suppportive of our Constitution, than are the Socialists, who want to destroy this country.

So you can't really expect either gang to represent you, unless you are a member in good standing, or can buy the influence, either with money, or by delivering votes.

Leakage? Yeah, kinda like the "leakage" that released the Johnstown Flood.

lol!

Well, I'm more disgusted with the republicrats at the national level. There are some local here that I feel are impressive, for example Scott Brown.

Republicans are the pro-labor party.

Anti-organized labor perhaps, but pro-labor.

And the difference between organized labor and organized crime is?.....

I don’t know either.

Is this the part where the anti-3rd party wingnutz tell a vote for a non-republican is a vote for Obama? So tired of that crap.

Sarah, if you’re listen, and I know you read all my posts, go 3rd party, the RNC will torpedo you at ever corner, and the candidate will be chosen long before a conservative states gets its chance in the primary ...

Either we conservatives recapture the GOP or figure out how we’re going to beat the RepublicRAT party.

Not sure I agree. Many country-club “Republicans” are pro-illegal immigration to get labor on the cheap at the expense of the American taxpayer.
