The volatile 2010 Republican Primary race for governor in Texas has become a toss-up, with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison currently inching ahead of incumbent Rick Perry by two points 40% to 38%.
A new Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 telephone survey of Texas GOP Primary voters finds just three percent (3%) support Debra Medina, a tea party activist who joined the GOP race this month. But 19% are not sure who they favor.

The Democrats, knowing that their nominee cannot win the General Election, will cross party lines and vote for KBH in the GOP Primary.
Super RINO edges right-leaning RINO
yup.
open primaries= teh stoopid
Both of these “republicans” have proven to be pretty useless. Perry and dear old Kay both love open borders.
Hasn’t “Kinky” already announced?
Ms. Medina needs to do a better job of getting her name out there.
Kinky has announce for the Dem. Primary but he could not win a General.
However, the problem for the GOP is that there is a small possibility that 39% Perry could be beat in the General and there is no way the KBH could be beat in the General.
However, in the end, lots and lots of Dems will be voting for KBH in the GOP Primary and Perry will go down.
As for me, I have no use for either the Longhorn or Aggie cheerleaders.
I don’t think so but I could be wrong.
Wow! The only earlier poll I saw had Perry way ahead.
“I think your right. [Snip]Perry won reelection in 2006 with 39% of the overall vote. Democrat Chris Bell earned 30%, followed by independent candidates Carole Keeton Strayhorn and Richard ‘Kinky’ Friedman with 18% and 12% support respectively. [Snip] I don’t believe Carole or Kinky will take another run at it. Just my sense of things.”
Slight correction:
Perry won with about 35% of the overall vote. Many voted “none of the above”
Kinky has announced already...
Kinky recieved my protest vote last time...
I have not heard of the Tea Party candidate until now. She currently has my vote....
Yes and he changed parties. Said the Republicans “didn’t want him”. KBH needs to stay in Washington - although she is a RINO thru and thru, as is Perry. Hard to believe that we can’t find one honest conservative Republican that we can all support.
Yes, Kinky is in...He and Willie Nelson were in Plano last night for a big bash...
That 39% was in a field of 5 nominees in the General.
I find this poll hard to believe. RP seems to be the one with support. There is no way in heck that KBH will get a vote from me.
My cynical side tells me that perhaps Scott Rasmussen is sewing seeds for more polling by both candidates. Similar unusual results in the VA race today. Could economic pressure be coloring poll outcomes?
At this point if Carole ran, she’d have my vote. KBH doesn’t. Gov. Goodhair doesn’t either.
Too true. As much as I dislike Perry, illegal-alien-lovin' Hutchison would be a disaster.
Perry, if elected again, will have been Governor of Texas for I believe 14 years at the end of the new term. That is ridiculous.
