The United States has provided more than $3bn in aid to Pakistan since President Zardari came to power a year ago, its ambassador in Islamabad says.

Anne W Patterson said the money was given in "combined security, economic and development assistance".

if this is what helped bring about the defeat of the Taliban in the SWAT last week - due to the no stop and have a truce that repeated the fighting over and over for the past few years - but relentless fighting the tallies to the mat and taking back the SWAT - which will, if our muzzy-sympathizer CIC will throw out the new ROE’s and let our troops fight and have fire cover - contribute to winning this war - then it was worth it.

Taliban has been gradually straightening its position over last 8 years. Nothing different happened in the last week to suggest they are being defeated.

Moreover according to recent disclosure by Musharraf, the money is totally being used to strengthen Pakistan against India and not to fight terrorism.

Taliban is Pakistan's cash cow. As long as Taliban exists, US money keeps flowing into Pakistan. Why would Pakistan ever want to fight their cash cow?
