I think that in some ways it would be better if it were intentional ... at least it would indicate the presence of a long-range plan.

But it's not intentional. Obama isn't up to that sort of nefarious plotting. He probably genuinely does not want Iran to have a bomb, and has acted on that desire.

FWIW, Obama is not the one who had initially hidden his head on this one: you no doubt recall that widely-touted report to Congress about 3 years ago, saying that Iran was nowhere close to a bomb. The Dems were ecstatic to bash W with that ... even though it was transparently over-optimistic.
