Verizon Communications (VZ.N) Chief Executive Ivan Seidenberg said on Thursday that the U.S. economy is still contracting and that growth in small businesses was "not as fast as you'd like."

It looks like a cold, bleak winter.
I feel badly for those who can’t find work, but I hope it will lead to gridlock in 2011 and eventual defeat of the Baraqqis. Today’s WSJ has a story about a Michigan engineer who went from $110k/year to school janitor and feels lucky he got that.
NOBODY should accept the MSM/SCM premise that 10% unemployment is the “new normal”.
What are people who cannot find work going to do? I just feel horrible for them. I can’t imagine.

I do to. I feel horrible for all those people who can’t find jobs.
So many people are out of work and it’s not going to get better anytime soon.
I mean luckily I have a job, but many have been out for over one year now. Layoffs really started fairly early in 2008 and just kept going.
I also have work and am lucky enough to have 31 years at my company. Even though I am under 50 years old and have not planned on retiring anytime soon, I could just retire if they decide they no longer need my services. In that way, I am blessed.
