The company I used to work for put on CLEs at least once a month. It was free for all our lawyers, and we provided catered lunch. We even opened the sessions to non-firm lawyers - if you knew one of our lawyers, you were welcome to attend our CLEs.

And STILL many of our guys complained (to me personally, as if I had any say in anything) that we didn’t offer them enough opportunity.

CLEs are lame. But the conventions organzied around them can be fun—if it’s in a city with a good night life.
