After BigGovernment began publishing undercover videos of ACORN offices offering advice on tax evasion and child prostitution, the community organizing group reacted as one might imagine: denials, accusations of falsification, and threats of lawsuits. Their national spokesperson, Bertha Lewis, claimed that the right wing had made ACORN the Willie Horton of 2009, claiming victimization by racists. Today, however, Lewis and ACORN are singing quite a different and more humble tune:
ACORN, calling the actions of some of its employees indefensible, has suspended advising new clients as part of its service programs and is setting up an independent review to see what happened. ACORN chief executive Bertha Lewis said in a written statement that she was ordering a halt to any new intakes into ACORNs service programs until completion of an independent review.
Lewis continued: We have all been deeply disturbed by what weve seen in some of these videos. I must say, on behalf of ACORNs Board and our Advisory Council, that we will go to whatever lengths necessary to reestablish the public trust. For nearly forty years, ACORN has given voice to communities, and gotten results. Right now, our nearly 500,000 member are working their hearts out for quality, affordable healthcare for every American and to help stop the foreclosure crisis. We must get this process right, so the good work can go forward.

“Bertha Lewis, claimed that the right wing had made ACORN the Willie Horton of 2009,
....oh, if only the GOP had the guts to really do that in 2010....Lee Atwater we need you!!
All you would have left is the hall sweeper.
They need to salt the earth when they’re done burning.
ACORN is a gonner...and BERTHA its time to update your resume
“that we will go to whatever lengths necessary to reestablish the public trust.”
Don’t bother.
Didn’t trust you in the first place.
“....he(Atwater) is missed by all conservatives.”
....damn straight!...he would know what to do with the gift of ACORN.
” I doubt there is anyone in ACORN intelligent enough to audit anything.”
....that’s probably true...back in the 90s when the NAACP headquarters was racked with scandal an outside audit was called for...the auditors declared the books were “un-auditable” and resigned from the job....so then a bunch of top NAACP people had to resign or else the Ford Foundation and others refused grant money....that’s what will happen here with ACORN I expect....they’ll do whatever it takes to keep the money spigot turned on.
If we don't stay on offense and dermoralize them, they will simply reform under another name.
Obama needs to be held accountable. Anything less than demanding all funding be pulled from ACORN and launching a federal criminal investigation into ACORN is not enough.
