WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Max Baucus on Wednesday brought out the much-awaited Finance Committee version of an American health-system remake—a landmark $856 billion, 10-year measure that starts a rough ride through Congress without visible Republican backing.

The bill by Baucus, Democratic chairman of the Senate panel, would make major changes to the nation's $2.5 trillion health care system, including requiring most people to purchase insurance coverage or pay a fine and prohibiting insurance companies from charging more to people with more serious health problems.

"This is a unique moment in history where we can finally reach an objective so many of us have sought for so long," said Baucus, of Montana. "The Finance Committee has carefully worked through the details of health care reform to ensure this package works for patients, for health care providers and for our economy."

Doesn’t matter in this case. This particular bill is DOA—the Libs in my office hate the bill because it doesn’t cost enough!

I recently calculated how much money it would cost to provide those who currently do not have health care insurance (30 million from Obama’s numbers) based on 50% of what it now costs for my health insurance. The amount over 10 years would be 2.4 trillion dollars at $800.00 a month per person, and that is based on a 10 month basis not a 12 month basis. This would be for a family of four people. The $800.00 dollar figure is less than 50% of what my insurance currently costs (somewhere between $1600 to $1800 a month - I need to check my last pay stub as my insurance costs went up again). So, my question for Jackass (or Baucus) is where in the hell do you come up with the figure of 856 Billion over 10 years? Especially since my figures do not include the illegals you do intend to cover.

He claims to squeeze $500 B from Medicare.
(as an aside, one of my wife’s Dr.s has a sign in his lobby stating which ins. plans he honors.
He honors a long list. The One he doesn’t is..Medicare Advantage)
Tax premium medical plans(IIRC any over $8000/yr.)
Tax medical services providers, X-ray,MRI, CT
Tax medical appliance providers.
And on and on.

Guess where the providers will get the extra tax money, from us!

And these taxes are substantial.

Divide this headline number by 10.

Divide that number by 300 million.

$285 per year per person?

Why should I be expected to pay a minimum of $1000 per year in premiums for a return average of $285?

Someone help me here with this math, Please.

“Someone help me here with this math, Please.”

OK, how’s this for help:

Don’t worry about the numbers, because it’s not math, it’s just a lie.

So don’t feel bad if you can’t make the numbers add up. If you even ask the question, you are smarter and more diligent than the intended audience. Say, I’ll bet you are one of those rich people who has a job!
