Petition to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger To veto SB 572, creating "Harvey Milk Gay Day"
Whereas, the appropriate goal of the California public school system is to teach children academic proficiency, not to indoctrinate children with controversial and politically-correct notions;
Whereas, the effect of SB 572 is to openly teach children that homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality are good and natural and maybe for them;
Whereas, fathers and mothers -- not politicians -- should have the final say about the teaching of sexual lifestyles to their children;

I don’t even want to THINK about what Californians might be asked to do to commemorate Harvey Milk Day.
Let’s just say, I am glad I live on the other coast.

While tragic... Harvey wasn't killed because he was "gay"... he was killed by Dan White who was pissed off about his pay... or because he ate some Twinkies...

What amazes me is how the man is boiled down to his sexual preference. As if everything he stood for could be summed up by his homosexuality. I have heard here or there that he was somewhat of a libertarian. Aside from various attacks on the state and its discrimination/violence, there wasn’t much indication of this in the movie. Nor is there much indication of it from contemporary gay activists, who are overwhelmingly leftist.

Dan White had quit his position because of being financially strapped, then tried to get it back. Apparently he and Milk had tangled a lot when he was on the board (whatever its name was), but I don’t know if it was specifically over issues relating to homosexuals. I think Milk was the main one trying to make sure he didn’t get reappointed.

He didn't do much except help get a 'queer rights' ordinance passed in San Fransisco.
He was just another fag politician, notable only because he was assassinated, which makes him exalted in the eyes of libs.
