Can't Kanye West, Joe Wilson and Serena Williams all just shut up?
New York Daily News ^ | Tuesday, September 15th 2009 | Joanna Molloy

Kanye West seemed truly sorry Monday night on Jay Leno's opening show for bogarting Taylor Swift's moment in the MTV moonlight.

Kanye seemed baffled by his own bad behavior. But after all it fits right in. He caught the rude bug in surly September - a week that started off with South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson calling President Obama a liar, sliding into Serena Williams' threat to a tennis judge that she'd shove a tennis ball down her throat.

Yes, yes, like Kanye they apologized. Sort of. But we can't forgive them. Not so much because this tantrum-y behavior is outrageously classless, but because we've had to put up with a 24-hour news cycle of pundits asking, "Is rude the new normal?"

No, PR is the new normal.

Kanye got so much publicity out of his stunt that it eclipsed the solemn homage by Madonna and Janet Jackson to Janet's brother Michael.

Kanye's claim that Beyoncé Knowles' "Single Ladies" was "one of the best videos of all time" is not absurd; it's arguably one of the sexiest dances of all time, so exuberantly womanly that just the sight of Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg attempting it on "Saturday Night Live" was a scream.

So why did Kanye do it? He's not the first to disrupt awards shows - David Lee Roth crashed Beck's speech, and Ol' Dirty Bastard famously stepped on Shawn Colvin's win.

But Kanye is a serial spoilsport.

The last time he did this was even better, at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006. After his "Touch the Sky" video lost to Justice vs. Simian's "We Are Your Friends," he jumped up and grabbed the mike - a phallic move he keeps repeating - and ranted that he deserved the award because his video "cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it."

He later made the excuse that he'd had some "sippy sippy" before the show.

He had some sippy sippy this time, too, chug-a-lugging from a bottle of Hennessy.

You have to wonder about Kanye, who was so righteous in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina when he said, "George Bush doesn't care about black people."

You wonder what he's trying to get publicity for this time.

Maybe it's that longstanding relationship with Hennessy's corporate parent LVMH, designing sneakers for Louis Vuitton and calling himself the "Louis Vuitton Don." Was that "rad outburst" just a 30-second Hennessy commercial?

Kanye should stop with the sippy sippy, paid or otherwise.

We don't mind if he has a desperate need for attention. Just put it to righteous use.

Why should Joe Wilson shut up? He’s the only one telling the truth!

You know, I am glad that 0bama called Kanye West a “jackass.” Sometimes, people like West need to be called out on the stupid things that they do.

Comparing Kanye and Serena to Joe!? K & S are classless, spoiled animals that disrupted a public event and stole the spot light from a deserving colleague! Joe stole the spot light from another classless, spoiled animal!

Please please Kanye West will now start ranting against Obozo. A fight between those two thugs would be delicious. Kanye has more clout among young impressionable minds than Zero.

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

That's because Kanye's tirade was truly the way he felt.

It’s not true. Someone posted it somewhere. Later the news source pulled it and said it was unverified.

Hmmm, an off the record comment that may or may not happened. Are you really so sure it did happen? At best, Obama could be making some people believe he said it, while he tells others he didn't. Can you offer me any real proof. Like Obama publicly confirming he said it? Until then, you've been played my friend.

Face it, that whole thing with Kanye West was a pre-planned and deliberately staged publicity stunt.

I know I’m repeating myself, but let’s not forget all the democrats who booed Pres Bush’s State of The Union speech in the House chamber in 2005.

Joe Wilson’s shout is much less than that.

No, EmptyV would never do that. Except that they do one every year.

The link clearly states that it happened.

This is FOX News reporting. If they had gotten the story wrong, it would be front page news in the MSM today, with 0bama personally leading the charge to discredit the piece and the network. It isn't, so it's not.
