Very sad. The last I read about him he was improving. Sounded like he had a fighting chance. I was so hoping for it.

Agreed. It's not unusual for a terminal patient to briefly improve when moved from a care facility to their own home. I don't know if that happened in this case or not but it might explain it.
Very few pancreatic cancer patients have a fighting chance. It was impressive that he managed as long as he did.
