Thank all those people who stayed home and didn’t vote for McCain. Would we have the townhalls and tea parties if McCain had won? NO! We’d be marching to socialism a little slower, like we did under Bush, and the pretenses would look better to the average American. Too few would recognize it and fight it because McCain is “our guy”.

Absolutely correct!!!

ding, ding. I said more than a few times, that we were given a choice between an amputation and a slow bleed. Yea, I reluctantly voted for McLame, but I also realized only an O victory would awake the sleeping giant.

Thanks for making my point! This comment illustrates in a nutshell the difference between the apporoach of third party advocates and defenders of the "we have to support the lesser of two evils" principle. Third party advocates have decided not to "flee" but to work toward the day when "unrealistic" alternatives become "realistic."

They are in good company. Others who did the same were Frederick Douglass in the 1850s, the promoters of privatization in the 1970s, and dissenters who stayed in Russia fought the lonely fight against the Soviet Union in the early 1980s. They too rejected the "realistic" theory that their choices were limited to a limited set of evils. They made their own history rather than being victims of it.

Well said.

The 'lesser of 2 evils' argument reminds me of Sophie's choice - a false choice.

Voting the lesser evil is still voting for evil, just a slightly slower descent into socialism.

No...what's sad is seeing an ignorant squeak of a college student trying to take a conservative giant to task.

It's so sad it's laughable. You're just an anti-Republican troll...and you suck at it, bubby.

Bite me, RINO lover.

My opinion. I am a Christian 1st, a Conservative 2nd and a Republican 3rd.
I am ready to renounce my Republicanism to join a "Conservative Party." I believe that Conservatives are in every "Party" the same way I believe there are "Christians" in most every "Church". I also know that God is calling His children to come out of all those cults in the religious system and to come into His body the body of Christ where those of us that of one mind and in one accord with God through Jesus Christ via the Holy Spirit can fellowship and live in victory. Likewise I believe that should a "Conservative Party" spring up we will see a political party of such magnitude no one will be able to withstand it. The problem is there are too many cowards in this country that will kowtow to the talking heads that are in fact in the back pocket of the powers that wish to enslave us.

I love Rush Limbaugh but he is not on our side. Yes... He speaks the truth but he also uses that truth to maintain the status quo. We are the frogs sitting in the pot of water as the heat is being turned up and Rush is one of several media personalities convincing us that we don't need to jump out.

Sorry! I'm gone. I'm tired of RINO's usurping the will of the majority of the American people. God says to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. Well the RINO's aren't even having to put on their sheep's garments anymore. Too many "Republicans" can't tell the difference between a Conservative and a Liberal and yes... Moderates are LIBERALS!

Conservatives For America (CFA) or Conservatives For Freedom (CFF) works for me but enough of this one party system that keeps trying to pass itself off as a two party system.

Again... This is my opinion but one I am going to act on.

Third party insures "President" Perot, swept up and shoveled in history's dustbin the morning after the election of the tyrant.

It is never the responsibility of the party leadership to present to us an acceptable candidate.

It is our duty to raise up one who will resolutely reflect and accomplish our highest aspirations.

Ronald Reagan cut taxes and deconstructed the Soviet menace.

While the Rockefellerettes boo-hooed and wrung their hands.

You said what I was gonna say, but you said it better.

To Hell with RINOS and with kneejerk commentators like Limbaugh: fourth generation Republican.

What happened was as the GOP became more successful, and more importantly, became the National Defense Party, ideas like fiscal conservatism got drowned out. With a Republican president and, after the retirement of Dick Armey, a new Majority Leader leading the GOP who were not interested in fiscal restraint, but instead were more interested in big “majority expanding” initiatives, far too many Republicans followed. After all, they were ‘winning’, and they were able to convince themselves that in these extraordinary times, there should be no restraint, neither fiscal nor constitutional, in the defense of the nation.

Those electorial votes probably would not have, but give a more honest Florida, PA and Ohio and those two states would have made a huge difference. I’m not crying over McCain not being our President, but I shudder to think abject stupidity would give us a full 8 years of Obama as President — or longer... people who are thinking third party are not thinking strategically and are actually thinking total destruction of the USA......

>>The “party” on either side is never the problem<<

Can’t believe...you actually believe what you just wrote.

The people have very little influence in Washington.

This is a government of, for, and by the corporate and foreign lobby.

You left out my full sentence and yes... WE the people are the problem. the people in DC are only able to do what they do because too many of us are watching Survivor, AI, or out playing on the weekend instead of holding their feet to the fire... it is not the fault of Specter or McCain or Murtha or Pelosi that they are elected time after time after time... it is the fault of the voters who re-elect them time after time...

If more people fell in primaries like Cannon did in Utah last year then the people in DC would pay more attention when we speak out and tell them they are on the wrong path... but when only 8% of the population show up to vote in a primary, as they did last year when Chavettez beat Cannon, then we the people ARE the problem.

“As we are poised for huge gains in the 2010 elections another newby signs up to fight to convince conservatives to not vote for the GOP, we are seeing more and more of that lately and my guess is that as republican momentum over the democrats for the congressional races build, that we will see more of it.”

Interesting (actually, not interesting at all, just expected) you should accuse me of this, as I view party-firsters such as yourself as working to keep conservatives on the plantation voting for your own pet brand of socialism. You have no desire to force reform on the GOP, do you?

“The Republicans and Democrats are exactly the same, the Republicans just despise their constituents more?”

Who did McCain attack during his run? His own party or the enemy? Who is he attacking now and who is he helping?

“That sounds a lot like projection, something liberals are masters of.”

Which liberal? Obama or McCain?

“people who are thinking third party are not thinking strategically and are actually thinking total destruction of the USA......”

At this point, that’s going to happen with either party in charge. Repeating the same action over and over expecting a different result isn’t helpful. The GOP needs to understand it doesn’t own us. If it wants support, stop blowing it when we put them in power.

As we are poised for huge gains in the 2010 elections another newby signs up to fight to convince conservatives to not vote for the GOP, we are seeing more and more of that lately and my guess is that as republican momentum over the democrats for the congressional races build, that we will see more of it.

Signing up to get liberals elected is not a conservative strategy, trying to dampen the chances of the Democrat party suffering a body blow in 2010 is not a conservative strategy.
