WASHINGTON A close associate says Jody Powell, who was White House press secretary during Jimmy Carter's presidency, has died.
Powell, a Georgia native known for his deep Southern drawl, worked on Carter's presidential campaign in 1976 and served as the Carter's spokesman between 1977 and 1981. The cause of death was not immediately known.

The interrupting, badgering, and non-responding that goes on on all broadcasting, radio and television, is a horrible model for conversation. There are exceptions, of course. The worst example I’ve ever seen is Lawrence O’Donnell. Sean is almost as bad. Hugh Hewitt is maddening—he completes almost every sentence a guest starts. Probably the best listener on talk radio is Bill Bennett. Rush is not bad.

NY Times reports that Powell’s wife said heart attack was cause of death. I wonder if Powell was taking aspirin daily?
