If she was 33 instead of 83 they probably would have taken her. Then she sit on a cot in the hallway for a while, hopefully they’d feed her, and maybe a bed will come open and she’ll get to share a ward with 30 other people.

She might even pick up an infection or two if the orderlies and nurses didn’t feel like cleaning the place that week.

sodium club soda

Sodium would indicate salt and I can't have that either. I just stick to unsweetened tea and beer, which has no sugar, only carbohydrates. I actually use carbohydrates to control my blood sugar, I have a bean and cheese taco every morning to stabilize my blood sugar for the day. My main problem with sugar is with the refined type and as I said, some fruits will adversely affect me as well. It is an adjustment, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad.

I had a measly sprained ankle and after the visit and bills I vowed never to get injured or sick again. I can’t afford it!

Isn't socialized medicine great /s

Sounds like they might just have been happy they didn't have to 'deal with' that last her. Disgusting. At the end of the day, those bitchy paramedics may not even have lost a moments peace over it, just going on to mistreat the next potential patient... Very sad.

I can't drink coffee, tea or anything with caffeine, even decaf. It's difficult at times.

I have to say, you've got a great attitude!

"Isn't socialized medicine great /s"

The brain dead Obama supporters think so. The don't realize a paramedic would not dare treat someone like that in the US. They would be sued into oblivion.

The biggest deadbeat illegal or wino will get an ambulance ride in the US, but not necessarily in the UK.

In fairness, I must praise the two paramedics who treated and transported my eighteen-year-old daughter when she collapsed from an asthma attack.

That's the difference.

This guy was about 50 years old.

I'll bet if he were a she and about 30 years younger, they too, would have made more of an effort to save his life.

Just wondering?

Has anyone in your office considered writing a letter to your local paper to that effect?

This happened several years ago, so I'm not sure what they did in that regard.

I do know that the insurance company was trying really hard to avoid paying off on his life insurance policy, however.

A few weeks after he died, everyone involved was deposed by one of their investigators. The questioning focused on his diet and whether he'd done anything drastic that may have hastened his own demise.

Just a figure of speech. Maybe I should have said, "I reckon that..."

Old story....

In actuality....the FIRST person on the scene should be the most qualified. IOW...a physician.

That said...it's not practical.

Thus better coms from the EMT's to the Physician's.....are happening, needed, wanted. ETC.

We don’t call it an exploding stomach, we call it a perforated ulcer.

Before the advent of Pepcid, Prilosec and other modern antiacids medications, emergency surgery for perforated ulcer was not at all uncommon.

“Well, it’s not only the UK. I think it has to do with the fact that some health professionals don’t take women’s complaints as seriously as they take men’s”

I totally agree with you! My grandmother died in 1946 for the same reason. She went to the doctor over and over and they always told her the same thing...female hysterics. Well she died and left six motherless children behind...two that were too young to really even remember her. My mother, at 16, spent the next 16 years of her life raising her siblings.

good job docs!

Paramedics stopped caring long before Obama was elected.

I am sure there is bad ones in every profession. Personally, my brother in law is one of the nicest paramedics known to mankind. Sorry you have had a bad experience or two, but all in all, I know some very nice ones.

I had abdominal pains which would wake me up 3 times a night for over a year and felt it must be an ulcer. I read online that if you juice cabbage for 14 days and drink it, it will heal an ulcer. I did it for 40 days just to be sure! (I only drank about 1/3 a glass as it is not tasty. I mixed a small slice of a granny smith apple with it to make it easier to drink and I would drink it fast and then drink water directly after that.) Well, I do not have the pain anymore and I furthermore stopped having the pain 2 days after I began this treatment. So far so good and it has been 2 months now!!! From what I have read about cabbage, it even kills bad bacteria, etc.. I also had acid reflux and I went on a low carb diet and that took it away.

Note to self: If family member is sick enough to summon paramedic help and they don’t respond, take said family member to hospital before 12 hours passes and before 3 hours if ambulance has not arrived.

>>”Oh, my. She didn’t even get her “end of life counseling.” “

Yes, she did. Her “end of life counseling” consisted of five words: “Stop being a drama quees.” So she did.

Another case of Terminal Munschausen Syndrome.
